I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for this day. And it’s finally here.
A week ago it was bare and dry outside. It looked like the dull gray days before Spring where the trees are bald and the grass is sad and begging for rain.
Luckily, we live in Michigan near a lake where anything is possible in the winter. I wished for snow and snow we got! A whole sockdolager of a snow storm hit us over night and we woke up to a beautiful scene. Some people would use their big girl words and kick the dirt, I took pictures.
That’s how excited I was to see snow. Who knew? Not too long ago I would have been pissed. Now I just want to build snowmen. Plural. Yes.
All this snow led to me fulfilling my “try a new food or recipe each week” goal.
Mexican Hot Chocolate!
2 c. milk
8 T. good hot chocolate mix (Williams Sonoma has a great one!)
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/8 t. almond extract
Pinch of cayenne
Heat in a saucepan and stir until hot.
Serves two.
And then I broke my afghan out of its prison in my closet and decided to start knitting again. I can’t wait to finish it! Should be sometime before next winter.
This pattern…
With this yarn…
I also fed babies, rocked babies, took a shower, had visitors, and uploaded pictures.
Go. Me.
Today, I love Winter.

Kallaydoscope is my view of my world. It’s colorful and intriguing and also, kind of a mess, if not always highly entertaining.

Bleh. Do not like snow. But I LOVE Mexican hot chocolate, yum!
I’m with Krysten on the not liking snow part… especially when I had to drive in it. Bleh. On the plus side, we only got about 6″ of snow so it was manageable.
PS… love the word.
And we’re getting hammered again! I’m still loving it. I haven’t made my snowmen yet though.
I’M MAKING THIS TONIGHT!
